Citizenship: USA

Please note this visa requirements are for US citizens only. If you are not a US citizen please contact our office at (914) 592-2760.

US passport must be signed, valid for at least 6 months and with at least 2-3 blank visa pages not amendment pages in passport. If your passport does not meet the requirements, we can assist with obtaining new passport or passport renewal for a valid US passport.

Entry Requirements
  • Passport and ETA is required/ Regular Visa is required for stay over 90 days
  • U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP)On November 17, 2008, the Republic of Korea joined the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP). As a result, on reciprocity, U.S. citizens can visit the Republic of Korea without a visa for duration of up to 90 days or less if the purpose of the trip is for tourism, business meeting, attendance at a conference or visiting families or relatives. (Extension of stay is not permitted). From September 2021, U.S. Citizen who is qualified for Visa Waiver Program(VMP) must get a Electronic Travel Authorization(ETA) before enter to Republic of Korea.
  • Request ETA with JIDS for tourism or business meetings/conferences only

  • If stay if over 90 days contact JIDS we must make an appointment to submit your documents, once submitted processing time is approx. 14 days for issuance of visa. PLAN ACCORDINGLY

Your Checklist– Documents Required for ETA

Approval can take up to 72hrs. Must apply with sufficient time. Nonrefundable fee to JIDS and Korea.

Validity is generally multiple entry over a period of two years and is subject to change

If hotel information changes you must update ETA before travel

ETA is not a VISA and does not guarantee admission into Korea, Korean immigration service makes this final determination at port of entry

Eligibility: For Business or Tourism ETA:

Tourism, business meetings or conferences.

Any paid activities must apply for a actual visa you are not eligible for ETA.

You must still hold printed approval ETA, proof of sufficient funds, onward/return flights, and hotel confirmation at entry into Korea. Passport must always have 6 months of validity from last day of stay in Korea.

If applying for REGULAR VISA or staying over 90 days:

 Valid U.S.  Signed Passport 

*Korea requires 6 months from last day of stay for a visa to be issued. 

Note: In order to obtain visas, passport must have at least two -three blank visa pages side by side. Pages in the passport marked “Amendment” pages are not valid for visas. JIDS recommends your passport is valid for at least six months past the last day of stay from international destination.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A BUSINESS VISA: Stay over 90 days for US Citizens

Actual passport and 1 color photocopy of the vital statistics page. Passport must have at least 6 months of validity from last day of stay.

INVITATION FROM HOST COMPANY IN KOREA 

  • Invitation letter of Korean partner company
  • Also copy of certificate of business registration of the organization
 

4/Photo Requirement

Applicant must submit (2) color, passport style 2 x 2 photograph.The photos must be recent within 6 months, and generally not the same photo as in the passport.

5/Proof of Travel

Must submit a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online travel site. E-confirmation from an airline or travel company showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure to and from your visa destination.    Acceptable with a valid record locator.

 6/If Business Cover Letter from the U.S. Company as well as

  • Invitation letter of Korean partner company given by KOREAN HOST COMPANY
  • Note: For business letter please note the following: Applicant must submit a business letter of support from a U.S. based company.
    • This letter must be on your company letterhead.
    • This letter must be sign by someone other than the applicant.
    • Passport Information
    • How your expenses will be paid

    Business letter must be an original signed document. Invitation letter can be sent from Korean company and does not need to be original.

    •  Self-employed must also submit a copy of a recent bank statement. Recent 1 month bank Statement (if your travel expense is not covered your company)
    • Recent 1 month bank Statement(if your travel expense is not covered your company)

 

  • US permanent resident card(or valid long-term US visa) & copy(if not US Citizens) and fee is approx.  $60(Single entry more than 90 days) for Non-US Citizens
