Citizenship: USA

  • Your U.S. passport must be signed, valid for 6+ months, and have 2–3 blank visa pages (not "Amendment" pages).

Entry Requirements

  • Apply for vaccination verification, then claim the QR code in the PeduliLindungi mobile app (alt link).
  • Negative PCR test (in English) taken ≤ 72 hours prior to departure.
  • Proof of full vaccination (≥ 14 days since last dose).
  • Quarantine: 8 × 24 hours at a Ministry of Health-certified accommodation (traveler pays). PCR testing on arrival and again 7 × 24 hours after arrival/before release.
  • Additional testing: 3 × 24 hours before departure and 1 × 24 hours after arrival (per SE-08 Addendum).
  • Computer-generated flight itinerary (record locator required) showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure for your destination.
  • Hotel confirmation(s).
  • Applications: One for single entry; two for multiple entry.
  • Visa Application (New York) or the Washington, D.C. application per your jurisdiction.

Outside the NY jurisdiction processing may take longer and additional fees may apply.

Visa Application

Apply online no more than 180 days before travel and at least 14 days prior (applications > 90 days in advance are not accepted). Estimated processing time: ~15 days (JIDS recommends ≥ 20 days).

  1. Passport biodata page.
  2. Passport-style photo (taken within last 6 months).
  3. Declaration form (per consulate instructions).
  4. ID/passport of the authorized signatory on the employment letter.
  5. Employment letter (U.S. company) confirming dispatch and purpose.
  6. Invitation letter from Thai company.
  7. Thai company business license with stamp and authorized signature.
  8. Upload passport pages showing travel for the last 12 months.
  9. Apply via the Embassy/Consulate for your jurisdiction; upload proof of current residency.
  10. Selfie holding your passport open to the photo/info page.

Note: The consulate previously referenced a Certificate of Entry (COE) in addition to a traditional visa for business travelers and quarantine/medical requirements. Current entry measures (from July 1, 2022) indicate Thailand Pass is not required; vaccination/test options accepted; no mandatory insurance.

Photo Requirements

  • Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.
  • Neutral facial expression or natural smile, with both eyes open.
  • Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis.
  • Taken in the last 6 months.
  • Plain white or off-white background.
  • 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).
  • Head between 1–1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm) from chin to top of head.
  • Printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, in color.
  • No glasses.
  • No hat or head covering (exceptions for documented religious or medical reasons).
  • Full face visible; no shadows on face.
  • No headphones or wireless hands-free devices.

If Traveling for Business

Until further notice: Starting Dec 2022, visas stamped in passports may be reinstated. Call JIDS with your travel dates.

  1. Business Meetings Only (at Port of Entry): The Consulate advised this may be permitted at immigration. Carry an invitation letter from your host that states “business meetings only.” Admission remains at the discretion of border control.
  2. Host-Obtained eVisa: Your host in Indonesia can apply for your eVisa via immigration and email it to you. (As of Sep 2022, JIDS cannot file this on your behalf.)
  • Invitation letter from host in Indonesia.
  • Business letter of support on U.S. company letterhead, signed by someone other than the applicant. (Two copies if requesting multiple entry.)
  • Self-employed: Include a recent bank statement.

If Traveling for Tourism

Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available at designated airports and seaports. VOA is not a work visa and cannot be converted to other permits. Maximum stay is 30 days and may be extended once for another 30 days.

  • Passport valid ≥ 6 months on entry (full-validity passport; limited-validity requires a prior visa).
  • At least one blank visa page.
  • Round-trip (or onward) ticket.
  • VOA fee payable on arrival.

Health Requirements

  • Yellow Fever: Vaccination required if arriving within 6 days after leaving/transiting countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
  • Exempt: Children under 9 months old; passengers who remain in airport transit areas in risk countries.
  • Malaria (selected provinces): Risk exists year-round in parts of East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, and West Papua; variable in other areas except major cities/tourist resort areas. Human P. knowlesi reported in Kalimantan. Recommended prevention in risk areas: Category C.

Register Your Trip (STEP)

Accompanying Minors

  • Application form signed by both parents or legal guardian(s).

  • U.S. Permanent Residents: attach a copy of your Green Card.
  • U.S. Visa Holders: attach a copy of your U.S. visa.

Additional Information

Passport

  • Submit your current, signed passport plus a color copy of the information page.
  • Validity: at least 6 months beyond last day of stay for single entry; 1 year beyond last day of stay if requesting multiple entry.
  • Blank pages: At least two side-by-side visa pages (not “Amendment” pages).
