Entry Requirements
- Passport and visa are required.
- Register with the US Embassy in the countries you will visit.
Applicant must submit their current signed passport. Applicant must also include a color copy of the information page of the passport. Note: To obtain visas, the passport must have at least two blank visa pages side by side. Pages marked “Amendment” are not valid for visas. Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid for the period of intended stay. However, JIDS recommends your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your last day abroad. JIDS can help you renew it if you need more validity. If you require passport services, please refer to our passport services section.
Submit a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online travel site. An e-confirmation from an airline or travel company showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure to and from your visa destination is acceptable with a valid record locator.

Photo Requirements
- Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.
- Neutral facial expression or natural smile, with both eyes open.
- Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis.
- Taken in the last 6 months.
- Plain white or off-white background.
- 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).
- Head between 1–1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm) from chin to top of head.
- Printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, in color.
- No glasses.
- No hat or head covering (exceptions for documented religious or medical reasons).
- Full face visible; no shadows on face.
- No headphones or wireless hands-free devices.
If Traveling for Business
Note: Self-employed must also submit a copy of a recent bank statement. For the business letter, please include:
- Business letter of support from a U.S.-based company on company letterhead.
- Signed by someone other than the applicant.
- Original wet signature required.

Health Requirements
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever is required and must be presented upon entry.

- Original and copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
Non-U.S. Citizens
- U.S. Alien Residents: attach a copy of your Green Card.
- U.S. Visa holders: attach a copy of your U.S. visa.
