  • Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.
  • Neutral facial expression or natural smile, with both eyes open.
  • Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis.
  • Taken in the last 6 months.
  • Plain white or off-white background.
  • 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).
  • Head between 1–1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm) from chin to top of head.
  • Printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, in color.
  • No glasses.
  • No hat or head covering (exceptions for documented religious or medical reasons).
  • Full face visible; no shadows on face.
  • No headphones or wireless hands-free devices.

Accompanying Minors

Entry status

  • No visa required for U.S. citizens.
  • Valid, signed U.S. passport required. Passports for U.S. nationals should be valid on arrival; JIDS recommends 6 months’ validity beyond your last day of stay.

Bermuda entry procedures (effective Aug 22, 2022; subject to change)
Visitors arriving by air All passengers age 2+ must have an approved Bermuda Travel Authorisation (TA) before departure.

To receive an approved TA, you’ll need:

  • A Mastercard or Visa credit card to pay the $40 application fee.
  • If fully vaccinated: your vaccination certificate/card to upload (see Bermuda’s definition of “fully vaccinated”).
  • If unvaccinated / not fully vaccinated: proof of travel health insurance to upload (see insurance requirements).
  • Note: Unvaccinated children 11 and under traveling with fully vaccinated parents/guardians may upload the guardian’s vaccination certificate instead of insurance.
  • A pre-travel COVID-19 test result:
    • Take a test at a facility no more than 2 days before arrival (PCR up to 4 days before arrival is permitted for fully vaccinated travelers).
    • Children under 2 years old do not need to test.
    • Upload the negative result to your TA application.

How to apply (summary)

  1. Up to a month before arrival, start your TA application. Adults first, then complete a TA for each child under 18 (no TA for children under 2).
  2. Complete the form and upload either vaccination proof (if vaccinated) or proof of travel health insurance (if unvaccinated). Pay the $40 fee (Visa/Mastercard only).
  3. Four days before arrival you’ll get a reminder to upload your pre-arrival negative test. Submit your completed application at least 1 day before arrival.
  4. If approved, the Quarantine Authority emails your TA (check spam/junk if not received). Have it ready (electronic or printed) for scanning on arrival.

Testing & quarantine on arrival

  • Fully vaccinated visitors: No additional testing or quarantine on arrival.
  • Unvaccinated / not fully vaccinated visitors: Must take a pre-scheduled COVID test on day 4 (arrival day = day 0). Details are emailed to you.

Outbound tests
If you indicate an outbound test is required in your TA, it will be auto-scheduled (supervised antigen: day before departure; PCR: 2 days before). Details arrive by email; these tests are included in the TA fee.
