Entry Requirements
- Passport and visa are required for travel to Bangladesh.
- Valid Signed Passport
Submit your current signed passport and a color copy of the data (information) page.
Note: To obtain visas, your passport must have at least two blank visa pages side-by-side. Pages marked “Amendment” are not valid for visas.
JIDS recommends at least six months’ validity beyond your last day overseas; Bangladesh requires the passport be valid on arrival.

Visa Application
Two (2) visa applications completed online, printed, and signed. Call JIDS for questionnaire support.
- Include answers for all fields.
- Sign exactly as in your passport.
- Leave all Payment Details fields blank; click Save & Next to proceed.
Photo Requirements
- Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.
- Neutral facial expression or natural smile, with both eyes open.
- Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis.
- Taken in the last 6 months.
- Plain white or off-white background.
- 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).
- Head between 1–1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm) from chin to top of head.
- Printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, in color.
- No glasses.
- No hat or head covering (exceptions for documented religious or medical reasons).
- Full face visible; no shadows on face.
- No headphones or wireless hands-free devices.
If Traveling for Business
- Valid, signed U.S. passport
Self-employed travelers must also include a recent bank statement.
Provide an original, signed business letter of support from a U.S.-based company that includes:
- Company letterhead; signed by someone other than the applicant
- Passport information for the traveler
- Statement of purpose and itinerary
- How expenses will be paid

- Trade License / Registration / Government Certificate of the host organization in Bangladesh.
- Invitation Letter from the Bangladeshi host (required).
If Traveling for Tourism
- Two (2) applications completed online, printed, and signed: passport.gov.bd
- Answer all fields; sign as in passport; skip Payment Details (click Save & Next).
- Valid, signed U.S. passport with blank visa pages
- Two passport-type photos
- Copy of flight itinerary
- Visa Order Form

- Vaccinations are not required unless traveling from or through an infected area.

Accompanying Minors
- Application signed by both parents/guardians.
- Notarized consent letter signed by both parents/guardians.
- Original and copy of the minor's birth certificate.
Non-U.S. Citizens
- Include a copy of your U.S. Green Card (permanent residents) or your U.S. visa (visa holders).
