Entry Requirements
Important Notice
- Starting March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
- Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travelers with a valid visa.

- Entry requirements for non-US citizens with a US residency Green Card.
- Valid, signed US passport.
- Canadian law requires proof of citizenship and identity for all entrants.
- Blank passport pages: one page required for entry stamp.
- Citizens from the USA and non-US citizens who do not require a visa should check the Consulate General of Canada’s website: www.cic.gc.ca for guidance by occupation.
- Consider whether to carry an introduction letter from your company and/or an invitation from a Canada-based company.
- Business travelers may need business visas or work permits based on occupation.
- Business travelers should carry a letter of intention from the US and/or Canadian company to present at customs.
- Tourist/Business visa required for stays over 6 months.
- Work, study, or immigration generally require visas. Travelers now work directly with the Consulate to obtain these.
- Travel with minors: if traveling with a minor who is not your child or for whom you lack full legal custody,
- CBSA may require a notarized affidavit of consent from the minor’s parents. See the CBSA website.

Photo Requirements
- Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.
- Neutral facial expression or natural smile, with both eyes open.
- Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis.
- Taken in the last 6 months.
- Plain white or off-white background.
- 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).
- Head between 1–1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm) from chin to top of head.
- Printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, in color.
- No glasses.
- No hat or head covering (exceptions for documented religious or medical reasons).
- Full face visible; no shadows on face.
- No headphones or wireless hands-free devices.
Health Requirements
- Vaccinations are not required unless traveling from or through an infected area.
- Visit the CDC: cdc.gov/travel for complete health guidance.

Accompanying Minors
- Application signed by both parents/guardians.

- Include a copy of your U.S. Green Card (permanent residents) or your U.S. visa (visa holders).
