Right now you can still expedite them for $142.00 government fees plus JIDS fees. The US Department of State has been talking about discontinuing this and according to a announcement made by Brenda Sprague, deputy assistant secretary of Passport Services at the U.S. State Department next January citizens who run out of visa pages will have to obtain a new passport instead of having additional pages inserted. Two options will be available: either 28 or 52 pages with no difference in cost. What this means to travelers who have VALID VISAS in the passport : Some countries allow you to carry both passports, the cancelled one with the valid visas and the current passport. However some countries do not allow this and VISAS must be transferred or you must apply for a new visa in your new current passport. Get pages added before 2016 if you are expediting. The official date has not yet been announced.   Passport Agency Alert Ten years ago the US State Department and Homeland Security enforced a new policy making carrying a passport mandatory when travelling in the western hemisphere.
